Salem: Albert J. Demeule age 83 of Salem, died at his home, Monday, December 22, 2008, following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Lina H. (Michaud) Demeule.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Azarias and Zelia (Lemelin) Demeule. A veteran of W.W. II, he served in Europe and the Middle Eastern Theater with 132nd Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion. Following the war he returned to Salem and worked as a machinist for the Attwood & Morrill Co. and later for Cannon Electric both formerly of Salem. For over 30 years, Al was employed as a machinist at the G. E. Riverworks in Lynn. He retired in 1989.
Al was a quiet family man. His hobbies were wood-working, history, and reading. He was also an avid walker and follower of national politics. He was a member of Salem Council on Aging and was a life long member of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Claire M. Zimmerman & her husband Albert of Haverhill, Celeste M. DiVincenzo & her husband John of Georgetown, Monique E. McLean of Gonic, NH, 3 sons; Paul A. Demeule of Salem, Jean E. Demeule & His wife Lisa and Michael D. Demeule & his wife Alena all of Peabody. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by 2 sisters; Blanche Demeule and Cecile Comtois.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem at 10:30 am to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11:30 am.
