Obituary

BELLINGHAM—Kenneth P. Barnett 73, a longtime resident of Bellingham, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday December 20, 2008 following a long illness. He was the husband of Judith V. (Fleming) Barnett.
Born in Boston, January 13, 1935 a son of the late Earl L. and Ethel A. (Druken) Barnett, he had resided in the Roxbury section of Boston for many years before moving to Bellingham in 1960.
Mr. Barnett was educated in Boston schools, and until his retirement in 2001 he had worked in the sheet metal fabrication industry, working for the former Peter’s & Company in Boston for 29 years and the Raytheon Company, and also the Atlantic Sheet Metal Company.
His interests included, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, fishing, swimming, working with his hands and gardening. He also volunteered at numerous soup kitchens and was always kind to everyone he met.
He was a member of Local #1505, and Local #17, and a member of the Bellingham Senior Citizens, and was a communicant of St. Brendan’s Church.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by three daughters, Constance A. Wolf and her husband Bruce of Milford, Kathleen A. Boutchia and her husband Thomas of Bellingham and Carolyn A. Duhaime and her husband Jeffrey Sr. of Bellingham a brother Harold L. Barnett of Somerville, and a sister Carol Bickom of Bellingham. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Edgar R. Barnett, Arnold Barnett and Elva Heavey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday December 24, 2008 at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com) with a funeral Mass in St. Brendan Church 382 Hartford Ave, Bellingham, MA 02019 at 10AM.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours are Tuesday December 23, 2008 from 4-8PM.
