Jane Rita (Busemeyer) Sweeney, 84, of Cincinnati, OH died, Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of John Joseph Sweeney who died in 1984.
Born in Cincinnati on January 24, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Veronica (Schuler) Busemeyer. A lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Mrs. Sweeney made lengthy trips to visit her daughters, and spent many weeks in recent years in Medway Massachusetts.
She graduated from Regina High School and before her retirement, worked as a bookkeeper in the Cincinnati area for many years, most recently at Novikoff, Manheimer & Co.
Mrs. Sweeney was a member of Good Shepherd Parish in Montgomery, OH. She was an avid bridge player, loved words and crossword puzzles, singing and playing the organ. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and gazing at the stars. Jane was very close to her extended family in Cincinnati and numerous friends, especially her bridge group. Being very independent, she traveled extensively to spend time with family, making several trips to Europe and until just a year ago, frequently driving on her own from Ohio to Massachusetts.
She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Williams and her husband, Stephen of Medway, Jana Sweeney of Stoneham and Jill-Beth Sweeney of Acton and three grandchildren, Michael, John and Caroline Williams.
She is also survived by three brothers, Frank Busemeyer of Cincinnati, Larry Busemeyer of Tucson, AR and Thomas Busemeyer of Cincinnati and two sisters, Ruth Slusher of Mulberry, OH and Mary Lucas of Batavia, OH and many nieces and nephews.
She was a sister of the late Mark and Robert Busemeyer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, December 22 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Good Shepherd Parish in Montgomery, OH on Saturday, December 27. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery.
