Obituary

Mr. Leo D. Cote, of Taunton, died Thursday, December 18 in Taunton Nursing
Home following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Rita P. (Pothier)
Cote. He was born 94 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late George J. and Mary
A. (Giard) Cote. He was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most
of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a stationary engineer at
the Paul A. Dever State School for many years. He had previously been employed
at the former Mansfield Bleachery for a number of years. Mr. Cote served in the U.S.
Merchant Marine during World War II. He enjoyed his life, doing all he wanted to do.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed boating, playing pool, golf and hockey, and
especially spending time with his great grandchildren. He was a communicant of the
former St. Jacques Church.
He leaves:
3 sons: Leo G. Cote of Taunton
Alfred A. Cote of Raynham
Ronald A. Cote of Plymouth
1 daughter: Diane I. Cote of Taunton
6 grandchildren
2 stepgrandchildren
4 great grandchildren
several nieces and nephews
Mr. Cote was also the brother of the late Wilfred Cote, Joseph Henry Cote, George A.
Cote, Albert Cote, Alice Demers-Menard and Augustine Lawrence.
Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Visiting
Hours are omitted. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Taunton
Nursing Home Activities Fund, 350 Norton Ave., Taunton, Ma., 02780, the St. Jude the
Apostle Parish Renovation Fund, 249 Whittenton St., Taunton, Ma., 02780, or to the
charity of your choice.
