AUBURN- Robert H. Creelman, 74, of 18 Fox Run Circle, Auburn died Sunday, May 4, 2003 in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 47 yars, Dorothy J. (Foley) Creelman; two sons, Mark R. and Todd A. Creelman both of Auburn; two daughters, Laurie A. Richardson of Leicester and Nancy J. Turney of Auburn; his mother, Dorothy R. (Ramsdell) Creelman of Auburn; three brothers, O. Warren and Richard Creelman both of Auburn and David Creelman of Worcester; four grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Howard Creelman.
He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Orland A. Creelman and lived in AUburn most of his life. He lived in Harwich for 9 years before returning to Auburn. He was a graduate of Auburn High School, where he was a member of the varsity baseball and track teams. He was also know as the original Auburn "Dandie", a name given to him by a reprter from the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. It went on to become the team moniker for the Auburn High School sports teams for many years.He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Creelman was an engineer and supervisor for the New England Telephone Co., where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of the Lower Cape in Harwich, was active in the Auburn Little League for many years, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, loved to golf and was an ardent walker, walking up to three miles every day.
A service for Mr. Creelman will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, (brittonfuneralhomes.com) 91 Central Street, Auburn. Final disposition will be private.Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, May 7 from 5-8 PM.
