Obituary

Doris A.D’Ambra, of Continental Road, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 surrounded by her family after a two day illness at RI Hospital. She was the wife of the late Anthony F. D’Ambra.

Born in Obernburg, NY, a daughter of the late Charles and Florence Wilhelmina (Huff) Deckelmann. She had been a Greenville resident for over 50 years.

She had graduated from the Lenox Hill School of Nursing in NYC as a Registered Nurse and had first worked at Callicoon Hospital in NY. She later worked as a charge nurse on the floors at Roger Williams Hospital. She also had been an operating room nurse Fogarty Hospital, and Notre Dame Hospital.

She was past-president of the Association of OR Nurses of RI, a staff developer of Operating Room and Recovery Room at Fogarty Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member and past-president of the Apple Blossom Garden Club and a longtime participant at St. Philip Church.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia A. D’Ambra of Greenville, her sister, Teresa D. Schanil and her husband William, of Obernburg, NY. many nieces and nephews and her very loving dog, Sweet Pea. She was the sister of the late Gerard C. Deckelmann.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Visitation Monday 3-7pm.
