Lawrence, MA- Frances J. (Moolic) Hackney, 81, died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Center in Lawrence, surrounded by her loving family.
A life long resident of Lawrence, Mrs. Hackney was a graduate of Lawrence High School and went on to attend the Boston Dispensary. For many years, Frances worked as a lab technician for local hospitals as well as Nyanza Chemical, in Lawrence. In later years, she was as a clerical worker for The Department of Transitional Assistance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, until her retirement in 1988. She was a communicant of St. Monica’s Church and was a member of the Nevin’s Library Book Club. Frances enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, reading and playing scrabble, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family who will always remember her as being a wonderful mother.
The widow of David D. Hackney, Frances is survived by her 2 children, Paul V. and his wife Tricia Hackney and Susan M. Hackney, all of Lawrence. She is also survived by her siblings Arlene Cushing of North Andover, and Robert Hendry of Salem, NH, as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and Friends may call on Monday, Dec. 22nd from 3-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday morning, Dec. 23rd at 9 o’clock, at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen, with burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
