Gilford-Adrian “Dick” William Gagnon, 82, of 187 Morrill Street died Wednesday evening, December 17, 2008 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.
Dick was born in Laconia on September 8, 1926 the son of the late Henri and Salomie (Provencal) Gagnon and had been a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region.
Honorably serving his country during the Korean War, Dick is a United States Army veteran.
Prior to his retirement, Dick worked for the former Bergen-Paterson Corporation in Laconia as a machinist for 35 years.
Dick was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of VFW Post 1670 in Laconia. Among his many interests he enjoyed camping, crafts, reading, and playing cards. He especially liked to talk and socialize with his family and friends, and those he would just meet.
Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by two brothers, Lionel Gagnon, and Leo Gagnon, and two sisters, Mary Ann Vandine, and Eva Stender.
Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice (Dufault) Gagnon of Gilford; two daughters, Susan Gagnon of Lancaster, New Hampshire, and Sandra Cole and her husband Garry of Emeron, Georgia; one brother, Arthur Gagnon of Laconia; three sisters, Rita Pevine of Franklin, Dora Stevens and Leona Daigneau both of Laconia; one grandson, Joseph Boissoneault and his companion Nickole Bolduc of Belmont; one great granddaughter, Emily Boissoneault. Many nieces and nephews also survive Dick.
Visiting hours were on Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia.
A graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring at the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street.
