Obituary:
Taunton; Ruth Elizabeth (Petipas) DeMeritt, a Taunton resident for over 35 years, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Tuft’s New England Medical Center in Boston. She was 83 years of age. Ruth lived with her daughter on Somerset Ave. for many years. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late James O. Petipas and Pearl (Kettil) Petipas.
Ruth was employed by Princess House as a dye craftsman for many years, then retired at age 64. She had also worked at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard for many of her younger years. Prior to coming to Taunton, Ruth lived in Newport RI. and also ran an Antique Shop in Kingstown, RI., called, “Ma’s Kettle”. She enjoyed Flea Markets, Yard Sales, crafts and reading.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Jeanne F. Norcutt of Taunton, and she was the mother of the late Joseph Leo Parano. She also leaves 5 grandchildren; Pam, Chris, Darlene, Cyndi, and Chad; as well as 7 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
At her request services will be private at the convenience of the family.
