LEICESTER: Octavia A. Hyland,72, of 175 Paxton St., died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 16 at her son's home in Leicester.
She leaves two sons Joseph W. Hyland and his wife Anne and Robert M. Hyland and his wife Mary all of Leicester, two brothers Daniel Hyland and Rockwood Hyland and his wife Marilyn all of Leicester, 8 grandchildren Stephanie, Nicole, and Robert, Timothy, Shamus, Justin, Colby and Kelsey, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers William and Robert Hyland and a sister Christina Hyland Sheehan.
Octavia was a customer service clerk at Shaw's Supermarket in Auburn for 15 years, before retiring in 1994.
Born in Leicester, she was the daughter of William and Anna E. (Narbut) Hyland. She graduated from Leicester High School and attended Anna Maria College in Paxton. She was a member of St. Pius X Church where she had a strong faith and was involved in the building of the church. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren and supporting their daily activities.She had hobbies and interests which included gardening, knitting, cooking and was an avid Patriots Fan. She was an inspiration to all of her family...and was a great loss. She will sadly be missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. There are no calling hours.
