Joanne Purcell Wickens, of Plymouth, passed away on December 16th at Jordan Hospital at the age of 77. Beloved wife of the late Derrill Wickens, she is survived by her children Wendy Atwood of Hampton, NH; Heather Maccaferri of Plymouth, Holly Opachinski of Kingston, Jennifer Howland of Springfield, Laurel Messina of Brookline, NH; Derrill E. Wickens Jr. of Norfolk, VA and Andrea Gleason of Pembroke. She also leaves her brothers Louis Purcell of FL; Robert Purcell of FL and David Purcell of CA, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joanne has lived in Plymouth for 12 years coming from Plympton where she lived for 35 years and operated the Whiffletree Antique Shop from her home. She graduated from Abington High School and was a member of the Plympton and Plymouth Garden Club, the Eel River Beach Club, the Black and White Club and the Plympton Historical Society. She enjoyed a lifetime of summers at Pleasant Lake at Otis Field, ME. A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 20th at 11 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church in Plymouth. Burial is private.
