BOSTON…Alice F. (Manchester) Hathaway, 75, of Tiverton died Friday, December 12, 2008 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer. She was the wife of William E. Hathaway, Jr.
Born in Fall River she was the daughter of the late Roland and Caroline (Jean) Manchester and had been a life long resident of Tiverton. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Westport. She had been the owner and operator of Rhode Island Red Antiques and was a waitress for Sunderland’s and Evelyn’s Restaurants both of Tiverton. Mrs. Hathaway was an avid gardener who enjoyed going to yard sales, antiquing, cooking and baking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend.
In addition to her husband she is survived by 3 sons: William E. Hathaway, III of Tiverton, Gene R. Hathaway of Tiverton, Keith D. Hathaway of Maine; 3 daughters: Frances J. Thibault of Fall River, Terri-Ann L. Hathaway of Florida, Lisa A. Paquin of Somerset; a brother: Norman Manchester of Tiverton; 2 sisters: Gail Sylvia and Sandra White both of Tiverton; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Edward Lesneski III and Michelle Thibault and sister of the late Lorraine Peabody and Estelle Cargile.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 9:00 A.M. from the Potter Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 5 - 8 P.M.
