Obituary

Mary “Panagiota” (Gekakis) D’Egidio 92 of Cumberland Rhode Island died December 13 in the High Gate Manor in Dedham. She was the wife of the late Michael D’Egidio who died in 2001.
Born in Newburgh, New York on August 15, 1916, the daughter of the late George and Despina (Karalis) Gekakis, Mrs. D’Egidio was raised and lived in New York for most of her life until moving to Florida in 1995 where she lived until moving to Cumberland 7 years ago.
A homemaker, Mrs. D’Egidio loved to garden and to cook.
She is survived by her children, Anthony D’Egidio and his wife, Reyna of Boca Raton, Florida and Michael D’Egidio and his wife, Deidre of Cumberland, Rhode Island.
She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth ”Elisavet” Deima of Newburgh, New York, brothers, Agustus Gekakis of Newburgh and Anthony Gekakis of Las Vegas, Nevada.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Philip D’Egidio of Kentucky, Debbie O’Grady and Diane Doughty of Florida and her great-grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Michael and Patrick.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 17 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
