Worcester- Vladas Garsys, 85, of 43 McClintock Avenue, died Friday, May 2, at home.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Angele (Merkys) Garsys; two sons, Algimantas V. Garsys of Tampa,FLorida, and Sarunas Z. Garsys of Henrietta, New York; a daughter, Jura Drukteinis of Bedford, New Hampshire; 10 grandchildren; a great grandchild. He was born in Marijampale, Lithuania, son of Pranas and Marija (Strankauskas) Garseckas and moved here in 1949. He graduated from Kybartu High School, the Lithuanian Military Academy and Worcester Junior College.
Mr. Garsys worked as an optical machine designer at Balzar International, before retiring.
He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Parish, Lithuanian Charitable Society, and the American-Lithuanian Community, Inc.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, May 7, from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 12:30 p.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Putnam. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, in the funeral home.
