Irene A. (Clermont) St. Jean, age 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 9 at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Rudolph E. St. Jean who died in 2000.
She was born in Lowell on January 27, 1919, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Bellemare) Clermont. Irene was a longtime resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell and was a communicant of St. Rita Parish and the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a bookkeeper with J. George Picard & Sons Construction Co. of Lowell for several years. Irene was also the co-owner of Clermont?s Market in Dracut for many years.
She was a member of the D'Youville Manor Ladies Guild. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also was an avid knitter and craft maker.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pauline and Domenic Falcione of Pompano Beach, FL, Doris Cambray and her companion Thomas Franklin of Nashua, and Denise and Eugene Finn of Lowell; two sisters, Doris O'Beirne of Lowell and Gertrude Clermont of Lowell; three brothers, Roland Clermont of Lincoln, NH, Roger Clermont of Salem, NH and Richard and his wife Janice Clermont of Hampton, NH and FL; a sister-in-law, Helen Clermont of Gilford,N.H.; nine grandchildren, Diane Lilley, Michelle Adamyk, Matthew Finn, Kristina (Finn) Ross, Suzanne Raisanen, Normand Cambray, Renee Cambray, Paul Cambray and Catherine Eberhard; three step-grandchildren, Lisa O'Malley, Paul and Mark Falcione; twenty-two great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Rita Mayotte, Germaine Jussaume, Alice Chateauneuf, and Leo Clermont. She was also the mother-in-law to the late Henry Cambray and great grandmother to the late Nicholas Jennings.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 2 to 6pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11 o'clock at St. Rita Church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ste.
