Jesup- Mr. Francisco “Frank” Rubiera, age 65, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Cuban native was a twenty year veteran of the United States Army, serving four tours in Vietnam. He also served the country in Korea and Germany. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and also the V.F.W. “Cooties”.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Elaine Rubiera of Jesup; one daughter: Michelle Rubiera-Perez and husband Eric of Orlando FL; two step-sons: Thomas and wife Buffie Bradford of Jesup, and Lee and wife Kimi Bradford of Jesup; ten grandchildren; one brother: William and wife Barbara Strickland of Atlanta; two aunts; and other family and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel with Reverend Charles Manning officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the S.T.A.R. Sergeants, the ICU nurses of Candler Hospital and the Georgia State Defense Force.
