Ola Odell Sansom, 95, passed away December 11, 2008 at her home in Water Valley, MS. She was born March 18, 1913 to the late Samuel Fred and Martha Ola Henderson Martin. She served 18 years as a secretary at First Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS where she was a faithful member, and was an avid gardener until the last few years.
Visitation is planned for Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5 until 7 pm. The funeral will be Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 2 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Bain and Bro. David Freeman conducting the service. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley with several of her nephews serving as pallbearers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Barrett Sansom; five brothers, Claudis Martin, Curtis Martin, Carlton Martin, Charles Martin, and S. F. Martin; one sister, Maifred Telthorst; and a granddaughter, Janet Koen.
Survivors include her son, James A. “Sam” (Patricia) Sansom of Water Valley, MS; five grandsons, James B. (Linda) Sansom of Missouri, Alex L. (Kimberly) Sansom of Missouri, John Bruce Sansom of Memphis, TN, Thomas (Cynthia) Sansom of Missouri, and Gary Sansom of Batesville, MS; ten great grandchildren, Amber Gill, Stacy Fritzemeyer, Todd Sansom, Chris Sansom, Carl Sansom, Stephen Sansom, Cody Sansom, Jonathan Sansom, Shane Sansom, and Jacob Sansom; three great-great granddaughters; one great-great grandson; and one sister, Mozelle Tillman of Water Valley, MS.
