Obituary

Francis E. “Ed” Gallien, age 77, passed away at his home on November 24, 2008 in New Port Richey, FL after a brief illness. Ed was born in Derry, NH on April 13, 1931. His parents were George J. Gallien and Sadie A. Piper. He attended school in Derry. He had a great love for and participated in many sports. He graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1950. He served in the Air Force for almost 23 years. During his time in the service, he remained active in sports by coaching his sons’ teams and continued to play baseball and softball. He spent a year in Vietnam supporting his country. Once he “retired” from the military, he worked for the US Postal Service in Derry for approximately 13 years. He purchased a Mobile Home Park from his Uncle, James Gallien that then became Redstone Mobile Home Park. After many years, he decided to go into full retirement and eventually moved to New Port Richey, FL.
He is survived by his four sons and one daughter: Edward Gallien of Carlock, IL., Marsha Klein of Myrtle Beach, SC, Paul Gallien of Franklin, NH, David Gallien of Derry, NH and William Gallien of Derry, NH. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed.
A Memorial service was celebrated at 11:00am on Monday April 13, 2009 at the Peabody Funeral Home, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH, followed by military honors. In lieu of cards, gifts, or flowers, please make donations to your local or state SPCA or Animal Rescue League.
