Charles J. “Charlie” McNeely 58 years of Brockton, died Tuesday December 9, 2008 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Anita L. (Laidley)(Rea) McNeely. Born in Dorchester and raised in Milton he was the son of the late James and Katherine (Joyce) McNeely and was a graduate of Milton High School. For the past 21 years he had been a resident of Brockton.
Mr. McNeely retired earlier this year from the Massachusetts Department of Employment and Training after thirty years in computer operations. He loved watching sports especially football and Nascar racing.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Michael Rea and his wife Patricia of N. Easton; a granddaughter Krystale Rea, two brothers Leo McNeely and his wife Kathy of Brockton, James “Mickey” McNeely and his wife Pauline of Weymouth, two sisters Patricia Brooks and her husband Al of Canton and Sheila McNeely of Canton. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his cats Tiger, Ling and Willow.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday 10 am to noon. Donations in Charlie’s name may be made to the MSPCA 1300 West Elm St. Ext, Brockton, MA 02301.
