Theresa Garofano, 97, of Mansfield died peacefully on Tuesday December 9, 2008 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Italy on November 26, 1911 she was a loving daughter of the late Angelo and Maria (Musto) Garofano.
Her family moved to Mansfield when she was a young child and she remained a resident ever since. She was educated in Mansfield public schools and was a graduate of Mansfield High School.
Theresa was a retired hat maker and designer. She worked at Jordan Marsh in Boston and later started her own business where she designed and made women’s elegant headwear. Her last place of employment was at the Foxboro Hat Co. where she continued creating hat designs till retiring.
A lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield she was also a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. Her hobbies included making dolls, creating things with her hands and she loved taking trips with family members.
She was the sister of the late Angelina M. Garofano, Louise E. Garofano, Carmen J. “Carl” Garofano and Lena Garofano. She is survived by many cousins.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday December 13th at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours have been omitted and in lieu of flowers donations in Theresa’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Parish 330 Pratt St. Mansfield, MA 02048.
