Martha Brown Portivent, 68, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, December 7, at the home of her son in Kingsland, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 10 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Portivent was born February 28, 1940, in Ben Hill County, to the late Homer Lee and Elva Gertrude Blizzard Brown. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Portivent was a former employee of Fitzgerald Underwear, Gene’s Heating and Air Conditioning and she retired from Y & W Sportswear. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Portivent is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, DeWayne & Sheree Truelove of Kingsland and Jeff & Annell Sumner of Eatonton; grandchildren, Scott Sumner and Britney Truelove; great grandchild, Katherine Sumner; sister and brother-in-law, Mary & Franklin Harbuck of Fitzgerald; brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Joan Brown of Austell as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wendell O. Sumner, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
