METHUEN – Mary G. (Gunn) Luber, age 89, died Friday November 28, 2008 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital.
Born in Stratford, CT, daughter to Arthur and Certa (Potter) Gunn, Mary graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport, CT with the Class of 1936. She attended the Junior College of Connecticut where she received her Associates Degree in 1938. She continued her education at the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing graduating and achieving her RN license in 1941. She also attended the Teacher College of Columbia University in New York City. She began her nursing career in the Biridgeport Hospital Pediatric Ward and went on to become Director of Pediatrics at Norwegian Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. After her marriage to Saul L. Luber she moved to New Jersey. She worked in the Pediatric Department of Orange Memorial Hospital in East Orange, NJ and later at the Colonial Rest Nursing Home in Sprinfield, NJ. She continued her career as a pediatric nurse for Dr. Fox and the Pediatric Medial Group in Union NJ until her retirement in 1981. She was a resident of Springfield New Jersey for 54 years. She greatly enjoyed her summer vacations with family and friends in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Scabble and was an avid Jeopardy fan. She was the oldest members of the Bridgeport School of Nursing Alumni Association.
The widow of Saul L. Luber, she is survived by her daughter Karen L. Allen and her husband Randall of Methuen, MA.

Sister-in-law Bernice (Luber) Cohen of Shushan, NY
Granddaughter Sarah E. Allen of Methuen, MA.
Mary also leaves several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: All services will take place at the Chapels of Short Hills in North New Jersey on Saturday January 10th at 11:00a.m. with entombment following services. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844.
