WORCESTER-Nancy V. (Dillon) Proffitt, 74, of Worcester, died Sunday, December 7th in St. Vincent Hospital. She leaves her husband of 46 years, Kenneth W. Proffitt; two sons Jonathan M. Proffitt and his wife Christine and David K. Proffitt all of Worcester; two daughters, Carolyn F. Griffin and her husband James of Auburn and Kathleen M. Keane and her husband Michael of Worcester; two sisters, Patricia Kenary of Worcester and Margaret Wiechniak of Broad Brook, CT; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Cameron, Rachel, Julia, Emma, Olivia, George and Daniel; many nephews and nieces. Her brother, Thomas Dillon and her sister, Maureen McCarthy predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Patrick and Margaret (Driscoll) Dillon. Mrs. Proffitt was a graduate of the former St. Peter’s High School and the Chelsea Memorial School of Nursing. She was employed by the Westside House and Clark Manor for many years until her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Proffitt was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren. Those who knew her knew her as a selfless person and she will be dearly missed. The family would to express a special thanks to Dr. Kathleen O’Grady, Dr. Robert Harizi, the nurses at St. Vincent Hospital, the Fallon Clinic and the Fallon Community Senior Health Plan for their care and support.
Funeral services and burial are private. There are no calling hours. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of the Angels Restoration Fund or to the Our Lady of Angels Memorial School, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
