Cormier of Stoughton formerly of Brockton unexpectedly December 31, 2001, Ret. Captain C. Harvey Cormier, BFD 77 years. Beloved husband of Delia (Zarrella) Cormier. Loving father of Cindi Galiher and her husband John of Bridgewater, NJ. Brother of Robert F. Cormier of Nahant; C. Burton Cormier of Florida; Dorothy J. Perry of Dennis and the late Richard V. Cormier of Brockton.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 AM. Burial in Northville Cemetery, E. Bridgewater. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM

Mr. Cormier died Monday evening at his home after suffering a heart attack.He was born and raised in Brockton son of the late Charles and Eva (Comeau) Cormier and was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1942. Immediately after graduation he enlisted in the US Army infantry. He was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge and was held a POW for one year. He earned multiple commendations including the Purple Heart.

He retired in 1976 as a Captain from the Brockton Fire Department after 32 years of service. Mr. Cormier had earned an associates degree in Fire Prevention and Service from Massasoit Community College.He was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Massachusetts Retired Police and Fire Association. He also was a past director of the Brockton Fire Museum.Mr. Cormier enjoyed worldwide travel and gardening. He loved dogs and always owned one as a pet and companion. His passion was following financial news and investing.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years and a daughter and son in law He leaves 2 brothers, a sister and many nieces and nephewsHe was the brother of the late Richard V. Cormier
