Eileen J. Hanafin
HANAFIN, Eileen J. Of Wellesley, December 4, age 89. Beloved daughter of the late William F. and Mary A. (O'Sullivan) Hanafin. After high school and business school she accepted a position as Executive Secretary to the President of Rivett Cathe & Grinder Inc. of Brighton and attended evening classes at Harvard University. She also served as a Volunteer Nurses' Aide at the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. After WWII she took employment with the New England Telephone Company, she worked in various positions for 39 years and retired from the Revenue Matters Dept. in Boston in 1984. Her hobbies were landscaping design, and travelling. She was an all around athlete selected for the Olympic Swimming Team in 1924 but her family was unable to sponser her. She was a member of the St. James Woman Guild, Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Irish Society and Charter Member of the WWII Memorials in Washington, D.C. Eileen was pre-deceased by her 16 month old brother Timothy, her sisters Mary A. McCarte of Duxbury, Elizabeth P. Arnold of Naples, FL, her brothers Gerald V. of Wellesley and John J. & William F., Jr. Eileen leaves her sister Kathleen L. Schofield of Worcester, Mary Doonan and her husband Owen of Duxbury and their 4 children and 5 grandchildren, her nephew John W. McCarte of Chatham and his 5 children and 10 grandchildren, her Nephew John Scholfield, Sr. and his wife Louise of Schrewsbury and their 5 children and 11 grandchildren. Her niece Camille Cioffi of West Medford, Mary Nagle of Nahant, Eileen Glendon of Chestnut Hill. Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street, (Rte 16) WELLESLEY, Tuesday at 9AM. Funeral Mass at St. Paul's Church in Wellesley at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours omitted. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Natick.
