Manning, of Bridgewater formerly of Dorchester, Gerald “Gerry” J. Manning died peacefully at his home on Dec. 7.He was born in Dorchester Ma and graduated from Boston English High school class of 1953. He attended Newbury College, and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Retired from Simmons College after 32 years. Gerry was a generous and deeply considerate Husband, Father, Brother,Uncle, Grandfather, Brother-In-Law, Neighbor, Friend and an all around 'Good Guy'. Loved being "Papa" to his grandchildren and great grandchild. He Thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family first and foremost, Along with camping, hunting and fishing, he also had a love for gardening and photography. Devoted husband of Barbara L. (Connor) Manning of Bridgewater. Loving father of Geraldine M. Lydon of Maine, Michael J. Manning of Bridgewater, James W. Manning of Braintree, Thomas K. Manning of Raynham, Kathleen L. Manning of East Bridgewater, and the late Joseph L. Manning. Proud grandfather of twelve and great grandfather of one. Brother of Mary M. Barron of CA and the late Thomas M, Larry J. , and Margeret McMahon. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.Funeral Wed. Dec. 10 from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rt18) Bridgewater at 8:00am. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater at 9:00 am.
