EAST TAUNTON – Jane L. (Andrade) Rogers, age 86, died suddenly Saturday, Dec 6, 2008.
A lifelong resident of East Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Barret) Andrade.
She was the wife of the Late William Hathaway and the late John Rogers.
She was educated in Taunton Schools.
A retiree of Morton Hospital, she also worked at the Raynham and Taunton Dog Tracks.
She was the mother of Mat Tavares and his wife Celia of Carlisle, Manuel Hathaway and his wife Cindy of Taunton, Jean (Hathaway) Spangler of E Taunton, Anne (Hathaway) Sauerbier of Taunton, William Hathaway and his wife Bonnie of N. Dighton, Frank Rogers of E. Taunton, Steven Rogers and his wife Lori of E. Taunton, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jane Burgoyne and her husband Allan, a niece and several nephews.
Jane was known for her courage and strength, having raised seven children almost single-handedly after the sudden deaths of her husbands.
Known as a devoted mother, she took in her sister’s child after her sister’s death, cared for her son Frank after he was disabled in an automobile accident, and helped raise many of her grandchildren.
She loved Sunday dinners and her favorite vacation spots were San Francisco and Las Vegas.
Her funeral will be held from Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Thursday, Dec 11th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, Middleboro Ave. E Taunton at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
