LOWELL—James S. Lawrence, 65 years old, a resident of Greater Lowell for the past 20 years, died Wednesday evening, December 3rd, at the Palm Manor Nursing Home, in Chelmsford. He was the husband of the late Denice (Clermont) Lawrence, who died in August of this year.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 10, 1943, a son of Virginia (Piwowarski) Lawrence, of Warren, MI, and the late Steve Lawrence, and was a graduate of Central Michigan University and Boston College where he received a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology.
Jim served for 12 years in the United States Air Force and was discharged as a Major. He had been employed as the Director and Counselor of the Lowell Veterans Center, and also taught at Fitchburg State College for over 20 years.
Surviving him are a daughter: Debbie Vessey, of Edmonds, WA; a son: Andrew Lawrence, of Everett, WA; two grandchildren: Sabrina and Zach Vessey, both of Edmonds, WA; three sisters: Beverly Magnuson, Kathie Samulski and Chris Shank, all of Michigan; his best friend: Uncle Bob; a dear friend: Tracy McDermott; many in-laws in his wife’s family, the Clermont family of Lowell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass to be offered on Tuesday, December 9th at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Private committal.
