Salem: Catherine E. (Percy) Barbrick age 78 of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Beverly Hospital following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Leo J. Barbrick and mother of the late Michael J. Barbrick.
Born and raised in England she was the daughter of the late Sidney Percy and Emily (Callagher) Percy-Aaronovitch. Catherine loved to reminisce with family and friends about her childhood years in England during the London Blitz. It was during these years the children of London were evacuated to various villages, and she to the village of Sear Green.
Catherine met her husband Leo, while he was stationed in England with the U.S. Army Air Force. They married, and in 1953 the couple returned to the States to settle in Danvers where they raised their family.
She spent the remainder of her years in Salem and most recently Peabody. Catherine was an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She cherished all time spent with her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a son, Steven P. Barbrick and his wife Susan of Merrimac, 2 daughters, Emily E. Brooks and her husband Robert of Peabody, Catherine A. Barbrick of Salem, 2 brothers, Philip Aaronovitch & Jack Percy, 2 sisters, Elizabeth ‘Min’ Bing and Lilly Woodland all of England. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Gregg & Lisa Barbrick, Margaret Marquez and Joleen Bailey, and 6 great-grandchildren, Keith, Mila, Isiah, Makayla, Syrus & Marissa.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 9 am in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. Visiting hours: Wednesday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
