Salem: John L. Madore, age 85 of Salem, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Wingate of Haverhill following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Rowe) Madore whom he married in January of 1949.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Maxim and Clara (Belanger) Madore. John attended Northeastern University and later began working for Sylvania in the late 1930’s. Early in the 1940’s he began working at Logan Airport as a freight agent for United Airlines. He remained with United until his retirement in 1985.
John was a member of Ste. Anne Parish in Salem. He loved to play golf and bird watching.
He is survived by 3 sons: Raymond J. Madore and his wife Donna of Newton, NH, John M. Madore and his wife Maryanne of Middleton, Thomas J. Madore and his wife Valery of Ipswich, 2 daughters: Amy T. Curley and her husband David of Georgetown, Beth A. Madore and her husband Jack Recko of Danville, NH. He is also survived by a brother, Michael Madore of Berwick, ME, a sister Anne Marie Stanley of Beverly, 9 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Richard, Gerard & Roland Madore, and 4 sisters, Rita Coffey, Rena Fugere-Blanchette, Gilberte Function & Lorraine Cookson.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, MA on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 8 am to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 am. Visiting hours: Friday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
