Lucia Fatima Pacheco, age 42 , born August 26, 1966 in Povoacao, Lomba do Alcaide, Island of St. Michael, Azores, passed away Tuesday evening, December 2, 2008 in O’Fallon, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family. Lucy’s family moved to Fall River in 1969. She graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 1984. She worked in the area as a nurse’s aid for several years, and had spent the last few years in Philadelphia before moving to O’Fallon, Illinois two years ago with her brother Paulo, to help open his restaurant, Paulo’s at the Mansion, where Lucy was the Executive Pastry Chef. Lucy was known for her hospitality at the restaurant. Her generous spirit was evident in her charitable acts; she had served the poor and homeless in area soup kitchens and was generous with her time and talents. She was an avid sports fan and an accomplished pastry chef. She was a parishioner at Santo Christo Catholic Church.
She is survived by her parents, Deodato M. and Irene (Branco) Pacheco of Fall River, Mass., her three brothers Paulo Pacheco of O’Fallon, Ill., and Osvaldo Pacheco and Henry Pacheco, both of Fall River, Mass., her four sisters Jessica Pacheco of Westport, Mass., Carmen Pettine, Goretti Eonas, both of Brockton, Mass., and Annie Furtado, of Fall River, Mass., 14 nieces and nephews, one great nephew, and many aunts and uncles. Lucy was especially proud of her role as godmother to her niece Samantha Eonas.

Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, MA Tuesday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours are Monday 4-8 P.M.
