FRANCES GATES
GROTON- Frances LaDean (Jenkins) Gates, 77, of Groton, died Tuesday morning at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1925 the daughter of Clarence and Mary Margaret Jenkins.
She married Clifford E. Gates in 1947. Together, they owned and operated West End Grocery Store & Filling Station in Brunswick, MO before retiring to Connecticut in 1968.
She was a member of the Groton Senior Center and served as a board member of the Poquonnock Village Apts.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughters, Delores Stammel of Ledyard and Millie Gates of Groton. She also leaves 6 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and siblings.
Her Funeral service will conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic on Thursday at 2pm. Burial will be private at a later date at Avery-Stoddard Cemetery.
