Obituary

Paul Allen Rossner, known by his loving friends and family as “Allen”, of Somerville and Needham and formerly of Chelsea died on December 2, 2008 at the Tippett Home in Needham. He was 65 years old. Allen was the loving son of Esther Taylor Palumbo.

Allen was born in Chelsea and attended Somerville High School before studying at the Boston Museum School. Allen was an accomplished artist whose primary medium was oil paint. Allen had his artwork exhibited throughout New England and internationally including the Copley Society of Boston, Harvard Cooperative Society, Exhibition Hall, Scituate Art Festival and the Cambridge Art Association. He received numerous awards for his work including the Stella Landis Prize for best painting and the Harvard Cooperative Society Award. Allen has also had his worked displayed in several one man shows in Boston, Brookline, Brockton, Peabody, Saugus, and Cambridge as well as in Japan. Allen was a member of the Cambridge Art Association, Copley Society of Boston, Brookline Library Society of Artists, and the Newton Art Society.

Allen was the dear brother of Kenneth L. Rossner and his wife Camille S. Cooper, and Shirley Gander and her husband Philip. He was the loving nephew of Irving and Leona Taylor and John and Marilyn Rossner. Allen was the dear cousin of Sandra Schawbel, Cheryl and Richard Nadler, and Richard Taylor.

Graveside services at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA on Thursday, December 4 at 10:45 AM. Memorial observance at the home of Sandra Schawbel on Thursday following interment. Contributions in Allen’s name may be made to the Somerville Home, 117 Summer St., Somerville, MA 02143 Attn: John Toole.
