Obituary

ABINGTON-Rose C. (Werner) Lavin-Munzert, 93, of Abington, died Tuesday, December 2nd in Colony House Nursing Center. Her husband, Frederick W. Munzert, Sr. died in 1992. Her first husband, David M. Lavin, Sr. died in 1967. She leaves two sons, David M. Lavin, Jr. and his wife (Elaine) of Scottsdale, AZ, and James W. Lavin and his wife Kathy of Abington; two step-sons, Frederick W. Munzert, Jr. and Wayne Munzert, both of FL; a niece, Joan Magit of Northbridge, CA; 7 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, George Werner and a sister, Loretta Gilbert.

She was born in Webster, the daughter of John and Kunagunda (Duesel) Werner and had lived in Worcester, West Boylston, Brighton and Braintree before moving to Abington. Rose was the head housekeeper at the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing and later was the supervisor of housekeeping at St. Vincent Hospital, both in Worcester, retiring in 1984. After retiring, she and her husband Fred volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence and she enjoyed traveling and reading.

The funeral is Saturday, December 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. A visiting period will be from 9:00 until 10:30 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul, 425 Plymouth Street, Abington, MA 02351.
