GLOUCESTER: Michael R. Ward, 54, of Perkins Street, died early Tuesday morning, November 25, 2008 at his residence, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Deborah L. Pitts.
Born in Waltham on October 10, 1954, he was the son of the late Earl V. and Florence (Collier) Ward. He was a graduate of the Waltham Vocational Technical High School class of 1973.
Michael was employed for many years as a piano gaffer in the Boston area. He was an avid fisherman. He was also an artist and loved to draw and carve. Michael was a friend of Bill Wilson and Dr. BoB.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Mary, wife of Eugene Bradley of Port St. Lucie, FL and Peggy Romano of Holliston, three sisters-in-law, Abigail Parker of Grey, ME, Susan Dykstra of McLean, VA, Lorraine Bunker of Gloucester, two brothers-in-law, Gregory Pitts of Springfield, VT and Billy Pitts of Thailand. He is also survived by his dog, China and cat, Smudge. He was predeceased by a brother, Earl V. Ward, Jr.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at Cape Hedge Beach, Rockport at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held privately in the Mt. Adnah Cemetery.
