LOWELL—Beatrice (McCabe) Carroll, 84 years old, died Sunday afternoon at the Willow Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of Stephen H. Carroll, with whom she celebrated sixty years of marriage in February of this year.
She was born in Lowell, on August 17, 1918, a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Julia (Hackett) McCabe. She was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1936.
Mrs. Carroll was employed as a bookbinder by Sullivan Brothers Printers, in Lowell and more recently as a Copy Prep for the Merrimack Valley Advertiser. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality of that parish.
Surviving her besides her husband are three sons and daughters-in-law: Stephen H. and Leslie Carroll, III, of Bolton; Thomas J. and Janice Carroll, of Chelmsford; Terrance and Patricia Carroll, of Lunenburg; a daughter: Deidre Carroll, of Towson, MD; six grandchildren: Ryan, Sean, Timothy, Courtney, James and Jennifer; a sister: Rita Roberts, of Lowell; two sisters-in-laws and two brothers-in-law: Margaret and Paul Mulloy, of Fitchburg; Rita Hand, of Lowell; and Paul Carroll, of Lowell; also several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Thoms 'Tiny' Carroll and Mildred McCabe.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Funeral Thursday morning, May 1st, at 9 AM from the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered at 10:30 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association; 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140.
