Shirley F. (Reeve) Reeves, 78, of Norton died peacefully in the comfort of her home in the presence of her loving family on Sunday November 30, 2008. She was the beloved wife of the late Durward B. Reeves who passed away on February 20, 2004. Mr. and Mrs. Reeves were married on November 2, 1950.
Born in Nelson, Nebraska on November 15, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Russell and Audrey (Williams) Reeve.
She grew up in Nelson, Nebraska and was educated in Nelson public schools. Prior to retiring in 1981 Mrs. Reeves had worked for several years as a Teachers Aide at the Norton High School and Middle School.
Shirley was a member of the Living Waters Church in North Attleboro and enjoyed volunteering her time to the organizations at the church. She was a former member of the Community Covenant Church in Rehoboth and in April of 2005 participated in a mission church with the church.
A former volunteer at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, Shirley enjoyed traveling, reading and most of all spending time with her family. She had made her home in Norton for over 42 years.
She is survived by her devoted children Douglas W. Reeves of East Falmouth, Kevin A. Reeves and his wife Stacey of Berkley, Susan L. Hillman of Norton, Lori J. Angers-Kennelly and her husband John of Norton and the late Chris D. Reeves. She was the sister of Gwen Tracy of Colorado, Bonnie Vest of Nebraska, Marceline Kiem of Kansas and the late Charlene Reeve. Also surviving are her cherished 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday December 5th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 4th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Christian Children’s Fund 2821 Emerywood Parkway Richmond, VA 23294 for the purpose of building wells for children in foreign countries to have clean water.
