New Bedford – Robert B. Blair, Jr., 87, of E. Freetown died November 29, 2008 after a long illness at The Oaks. He was the husband of Carol V. (Hill) Blair.
Mr. Blair was born in Rapid City, SD, son of the late Robert B. and Julia (Butterfield) Blair, and resided in E. Freetown most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He attended the E. Freetown Congregational Christian Church. He was employed as a master electrician by the I.B.E.W. Local #223, Lakeville until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local #223 for 60 years, the V.F.W. Private A. Poirier Post 3260, the E. Freetown Council on Aging and a volunteer for S.H.A.R.E. A cowboy at heart, he enjoyed the rodeo. Other interests include bowling, yard sales, photography and being an avid Red Sox and N.E. Patriots fan.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by 2 daughters: Patricia A. Miller of Lakeville and Katherine D. Curneen and her husband Patrick J. of Lakeville; 3 sisters: Irma Clarmont of CA, Tillie Hanes of SD and Ruby Machado of CA; a brother: Merle Blair of Sheridan, WY; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
He was father of the late Virginia B. Blair and father-in-law of the late David Miller.

Funeral services on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the E. Freetown Congregational Christian Church, 2 Washburn Rd., E. Freetown.
Interment in Chace Cemetery, E. Freetown.
