Obituary

Richard E. “Huggie” Cooper, 64, of Fremont Rd., Chester, NH died Monday, April 28, 2003 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Somerville, MA on July 14, 1938, a son of the late Ace and Dorothy (Ferreira) Cooper. He was a resident of Chester for the past 33 years, formerly living in Derry. He was the hard working owner and operator of “The Original” R. Cooper & Sons Paving Co. in Chester. His life revolved around his family. He enjoyed hunting, dancing and he liked to taddypan. He had also been a member of the bowling team "The Originals" in a league.

He is survived by his wife, Marion (Shufelt) Cooper of Chester, three sons, Ed Cooper of Chester, Richard Cooper of Chester, Cliff Cooper of Raymond, two daughters, Tammy Stanley of Rowley, MA, Debbie Caron of Raymond, 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Esau Cooper of Maine, one sister, Dorothy “Sis” Schaeffer of NH, several aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 10:00 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial will follow in the Great Hill Cemetery in Chester. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7 – 9 and Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9. The family requests that memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Fellowship Bible Church, PO Box 339, Chester, NH 03036.
