John Harris Simmons, 77, Grand Prairie, TX, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at in Arlington, TX. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Irby Stanley officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service (11:00 a.m.) Thursday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born December 13, 1930 in Davidson County, son of the late John Reddie Simmons and Annette Douglas Hesson Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Myrtle Anna Kingsmill Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a US Navy Veteran and served during WWII. Survivors include a son, Stephen Jay Simmons, a daughter, Belinda Baskette-Hemby(Edward), Grand Prairie, TX.; a sister, Betty Ann Harvey (Jack), Sun Lakes, Arizona; grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn Freels (Kenneth), Teri Michelle Revelle (Ryland), Mitchell Dwayne Baskette and Jonathan Richard Baskette (Andrea Lynn), and one great-grandson, Brandon Christopher Baskette.
