Obituary

Mr. Joseph R. DeSimone, age 86 of Medford died Thursday in Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a lengthy illness. Mr. DeSimone was born in Medford, the son of the late Giuseppe and Filomena (Catino) DeSimone. He was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1940. Mr. DeSimone worked as a mail handler at South Postal Annex for many years.
A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Army. He is a member of the V.F.W. and a life member of the D.A.V.
An avid sports fan, he rarely missed a game by the Red Sox or Boston Celtics. He was also a big fan of horse racing and enjoyed days at Suffolk Downs.
He is the beloved brother of the late Angeline Pappalardo, Bernard and Elizabeth DeSimone, Phyllis Conti and Helen Burri. Dear uncle of Theresa Finnegan of Medford, William Pappalardo, Carol and Robert Burri. Grand Uncle of Michelle and Michael Finnegan, John Pappalardo and Patrice Baubolt. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 9 AM. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Those who prefer, may make contributions in Joe’s name to the charity of your choice.
