Joseph A. Buccilli, 80

Dateline: Norton, MA

Joseph A. Buccilli, 80, of Norton died on Saturday November 29, 2008 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Frances M. (Ivatts) Buccilli to whom he was wed to on June 26, 1949.
Born in Quincy, MA on April 8, 1928 he was the son of the late Nicola and Antonette (Anzelotta) Buccilli.
He grew up in Quincy and was educated in Quincy public schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WWII stationed aboard the USS North Carolina prior to being honorably discharged.
Mr. Buccilli was the founder and president of Tri-Auto in Norwood, a company he operated for 15 years before retiring and had formerly been employed by Chrysler and Ford Motors.
A lifelong member of NASCAR, Joe built and owned modified race cars and was the owner of the B.R.C. Engineering Co. in Norwood.
A resident of Norton for the past 35 years, he had formerly made his home in Norwood for many years and was a former communicant of St. Catherine’s Church in Norwood. Mr. Buccilli treasured the wonderful times spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife of 59 years he is survived by his devoted children Donna F. Flannigan of Stoughton, Diane T. Abbate of Taunton and David J. Buccilli of Mansfield. He was the brother of Mary Vinci and Amelia Martell both of Quincy and is also survived by his cherished 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday December 3rd at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 2nd from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers Joseph’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Memorial and Honor Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
