Gail Reaves Cone, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Friday morning, November 28, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, November 30 at the Church Of Christ in Fitzgerald with Brother Stanley Moore officiating and Beau Leyse delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cone was born July 31, 1941 in Abbeville to the late Ward and Doshia Harrell Hunter. She was a 1961 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mrs. Cone worked 26 years for Fitzgerald Underwear, retiring to help care for her mother and assist her first husband, J.D. Reaves with their automotive business. After the death of her first husband and her mother, Mrs. Cone reentered the work force working at Bill’s Dollar Store and Harvey’s Supermarket until her retirement in 2002. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, spending time with her children and grandchildren and reading her Bible. Mrs. Cone was a member of the Fitzgerald Church Of Christ where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed fellowship with her church family.
Mrs. Cone is survived by her second husband, Jackie Cone of Fitzgerald; daughters & sons-in-law, Angela & Robert Leyse and Linda & Victor Hulett all of Fitzgerald; stepson, Jonathan Cone of Baconton; grandchildren, Beau Leyse, Victoria Hulett, Lesley-Anne Leyse and Alexis Leyse; sisters and brother-in-law, Pauline Stone of Fitzgerald and Reba & Jack Walsh of Perry, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. Reaves and a brother, Benny Hunter.
