Obituary

Robert H. “Bob” Soderberg, 87, Oriole Street, Pawcatuck, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at The Westerly Hospital.

He was born in Waterbury on July 12, 1921 the son of Robert B. and Marion Howes Soderberg. After receiving his education, he served in the US Army Air Force during World War II.

Bob enjoyed a distinguished 60 year career with various companies including Louis Allis in Milwaukee, WI, Davis Standard in Pawcatuck, and Haley Controls in Stonington, all involving system engineering and application of electrical drives and controls.

In his spare time, he was an avid sportsman, enjoying fly fishing, hunting, camping, and skiing.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Ursula L. (Potter) Soderberg; a son, Capt. Eric J. Soderberg-USN(ret.) and wife Lyssa of Southington, CT, and their children, David, Amy and husband Daniel, and Gabriela; a daughter, Anne E. LaCroix of Concord, NH and her son Matt; a son, Lt. Col. Rolf C. Soderberg USAF-(ret.) and his wife Joan of Rosewell, GA, and their children R.J. and Katherine Soderberg; two step-sons, Robert Garraty and his wife Ellen of Hope Valley, RI and sons Chris and Brian; and William Garraty of New Haven.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Saturday, December 6th at 11am.

Private burial with military honors will precede at St. Michael New Cemetery, Pawcatuck. There are no visiting hours.
