Obituary

Ludowici-Reverend Marvin Leggett, age 58, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness. Reverend Leggett was born on August 20, 1950 to the late Walter Leggett and Grace Leggett. He was a native of Bacon County, grew up in Ware County and lived 11 years in Long County. Reverend Leggett was a minister for 25 years, serving United Methodist Churches in Waresboro, Smyrna, Charlotte, Alston, Chester, Cedar Grove, Asbury and Ludowici.

Reverend Leggett is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lora Leggett of Ludowici; four daughters, Kim and Kevin Oglesby of Alston, Kelly and Brian Herrington of Martinez, Megan Leggett of Savannah, and Sarah Leggett of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Samantha and Ellie Oglesby, Jeffrey and Sunny Milligan, and Levi Herrington; mother, Grace Leggett of Waycross; two sisters, Sue and Wayne DeArman of Jacksonville, Florida and Marilyn Bladen of Waycross; one brother, Willie “Billy” and Rachel Leggett; numerous nieces and nephews; and three loyal companions, Annie, Leo and Luke.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 11:00 a. m. from the Ludowici United Methodist Church with Reverend Marshall Howell and Reverend Joseph Newton officiating.
Interment will follow in Middleton Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.

Active Pallbearers will be Robert Cahill, Donald Combs, Roy Harrison, Tom Rooks, Scott Rosenberg, Jim Shurling, Paul Starkey, Al Theus, Charles Theus, Gerald Walters, Larry Walters, and Wallace Woods.

Honorary Pallbearers will be attending clergy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ludowici United Methodist Church Building Fund at P. O. Box 45 , Ludowici, Georgia 31316 or Magnolia Manor on the Coast at 141 Kimber Trail, Richmond Hill, Georgia 31324.
