FALL RIVER …. Marguerite “Peggy” Silva, 87, of Fall River moved to Heaven on November 24, 2008 after a brief illness while residing at the Fall River Jewish Home for the Aged.
She was the wife of Frank Silva of Fall River.
She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Essa and Edna (Sweet) Izzir and was a lifelong loyal Fall Riverite.
She was employed in her youth by the former Shelburne Shirt Co. and was a retired Teacher’s Aide with the City of Fall River.
She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony of the Desert Maronite Church for 8 decades where she also devoted her Saturday nights for 30 years to Bingo.
Mrs. Silva was a member of Our Lady’s Guild of St. Anthony of the Desert, Lebanese American Organization, N.A.M., Flint Senior Center, and Senior Citizen’s of Lafayette Place, and an avid reader and casino goer. Everyday during the summer months she could be found with family and friends at Horseneck Beach.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, a son Michael Silva and his wife Kathy of Fall River, a daughter Regina Singleton and her husband William Cooper of Westport, a brother George Azar of Dartmouth, a sister Juliette Oliveira, 2 grandsons Dean and Scott Robinson of CA, and four generations of nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held FRIDAY at 9AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, followed by a Divine Liturgy at St. Anthony of the Desert Maronite Church, Eastern Ave, Fall River at 10AM. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours ,WEDNESDAY 4 – 7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations will be made to the Fall River Jewish Home for the Age.
