Obituary

Fortune “Jimmy” Silva, a/k/a Silvia, who would be 94 in March. He resided in Westport for 8 years, previously he lived in FL for 16 years and passed away in New Bedford, November 24, 2008 after a long illness surrounded by his loving children. He was husband of Anna (Koltunick) Silva and widower of the late Mary Angela (Rocha) Silvia and son of the late Thomas and Maria da Luz (Camara) Silveira. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and was the retired proprietor of “Tiagos Place” in Fall River, later called “Jimmys Café”.

Besides his wife of Westport, he is survived by 3 children: James F. Silvia and his wife Lisa of Taunton, Marylou Alix and her husband Edmour of Westport and Angela Bourassa of Lakeville; 2 siblings: Thomas Silveira of Riverside, RI and Julia Arruda of Fairhaven, MA; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. He was brother of the late Manuel, George, Joseph, Margaret, and Mary Silva, and Georgina Carvalho.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Wednesday at 7:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8 P.M.
