Patrick Doyle, 72, of Fairhaven, died unexpectedly Saturday November 22, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Jeannette L. (Moquin) Doyle.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Canty) Doyle, he lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Mattapoisett.
Mr. Doyle was formerly employed as the Director of the Transportation Department of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office until his retirement in 1990. For the last 18 years, he truly enjoyed working as a funeral assistant at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, where he made many new friends and was appreciated for his work ethic.
He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, and traveling extensively with his wife and close friends.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Maureen Mendonca and her husband, William of New Bedford, and Sharon Doyle and her husband Peter Beernink of Walnut Creek, California; and a grandson, Benjamin Patrick Beernink.
He was the brother of the late Daniel L. Doyle.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at St. Anthony’s Church, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
