Methuen, MA – Charles G. Marsland, 82, and retired owner of Mugsy and Chuck’s Service Station in Methuen died Thursday at Caritas Holy Family Hospital.
Mr. Marsland was born in Lawrence son of James and Laura (Brousseau) Marsland.
Charles was the owner-operator of his own service station in Methuen for over 40 yrs. He owned numerous classic vehicles over the years in which he traveled the country with his wife Rita and their friends.
He was a dedicated family man who got countless hours of joy from his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren.
During world war II he served his country in the United States Army with tours in Europe before being honorably discharged at wars end.
Because of his appreciation for older cars he along with many of his friends belonged to PALS Profile Automobile League, and NSOCC North Shore Old Car Club.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 yrs. Rita (Heafey) Marsland.
Sons Robert and his wife Debra from Northfield, NH, Kevin and his wife Lee of Dover, NH, Scott of Methuen, Mark and his wife Marilyn of Salem, NH, and daughter Diane and her husband Marshall Alie of Methuen.
He also leaves a brother Orin “Bob”.
He was predeceased by brothers, James, Paul, and sister Pauline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 9 o’clock in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/Saint Theresa Church 22 Plymouth Street in Methuen.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street of Methuen.
