WEBSTER – Bertha M. (Petka) Sterczala, 76, of Webster, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at home after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, Joseph T. Sterczala; a daughter, Diane M. Cowes and her husband Kendall of Shrewsbury; a son, Joseph R. Sterczala and his wife Jeannine of Methuen; a granddaughter, Tiffany Cowes; two sisters, Stacia Kasavich of Worcester and Helen Lennon of S. Grafton; a brother, Stanley Petka of Spring Valley, CA; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Mitchell and John and by 2 sisters, Aleda “Lena” and Freda.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Joseph and Stefania (Szarek) Petka. She lived in Sutton until moving to Webster when she married.
Funeral services are private. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to the Oncology Department at St. Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer St., Worcester, MA 0l608. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St.,Webster.
